Friday has – incredibly quickly- arrived again. Again, we have assembled five fun, personal, assorted tidbits that have made their way through our lives and minds this past week. Enjoy! and please comment!
This mat, passed up to me by my daughter, has been nagging me for a very long time to allow it to do its job. I have teased it over the past few years by using it now and then for even up to four days in a row! and then back in the corner it went. However, I am resolving once again to put it to daily use. It’s a rather late 65th birthday resolution, but I finally want to get more flexible and continue to have my children be proud of me that I can hold a five-minute plank!
The straight arm plank is easier for me. Have you ever tried to do one? What is your favourite exercise? – Maria
So here’s Jude on her way to the local convenience store. The roads were wet today so she had to take it easy and drive slowly. Jude drives an old beat up truck from my childhood. This truck is about 50 years old. She probably needs to take it to the car wash. It’s been a while since she’s had the truck cleaned.
Jude will be going on some adventures in this old truck and will be sharing her views from the ground. Follow hashtag #smalltruckbigworld for all her latest adventures. – Cris
The colour on my wall is called “Hot Tomato” – Behr paint colour P 180-7. My daughter and I disagree about whether this is orange or red. She says red and I say orange.
I love this colour. As soon as I saw it at the paint store I knew I had to have it somewhere in my house. Not a room with all the walls this colour, because that might be a bit too much, but rather a portion of a wall. Just enough to radiate into the rest of the space. The colour makes the room feel alive and gives me energy. I also find it interesting how the colour changes throughout the day, from an obvious orange to other times when the red hues become more pronounced.
I want a car in this colour.
According to verywellmind.com the colour orange is both a positive and a negative colour, depending on your history with the colour and your cultural influences. The post titled Psychology of the Color Orange states that “on the plus side, people often associated orange with optimism, confidence, enthusiasm, warmth, and agreeableness. Because it is bright and vivacious colour, it may help people feel outgoing or even bold. On the negative side, it may bring to mind feelings of superficiality, arrogance, or pride. Because it is often seen in nature during the Fall season, it may be associated with cold weather, melancholy, and even death.”
Is this why orange was Frank Sinatra’s favourite colour and why Caroline Bingley wore orange in “Pride and Prejudice”? – Cris
When I first began caring for my mother four years ago, I quickly realized that I would need to manage two households: hers and mine. In order to keep track of all the phone numbers, names, banking, bills and medical information connected to this new, overwhelming responsibility, I started using this organizer. I continue to bring it with me every time I go to my mother’s, transporting it lately in my cheerful book bag. Besides the organizational skills I learned as a teacher, which I now try to use with my mother, her life and her house, the organizer and the bag are reminders of my former life, my friends and colleagues.
What do you use to organize your life? your phone, an agenda, a calendar? Also, if you are or have been a caregiver, please let me know if you have any organizational tips. I’m open to try suggestions that work for you. – Maria
I’m only taking care of this succulent for one of my children, but I think it likes living with me. We seem to understand each other. I water it when it needs a drink and give it plenty of sunlight with my south facing windows, and it blooms for me every year of two. The flowers are delicate and only last a short time. But they are beautiful. – Cris
