I love this thought. It’s all about action, and doing and making things happen that maybe you’re not even sure you can do. This is what was going through my mind when I clicked on “publish” earlier this week.
I bought some olive tree seeds on Etsy, from SproutingTiger, in January of this year. I had it sitting on my desk with me this week, staring at it as I’ve been writing. It’s been nice to watch it sprout and grow over this past year. I think there were about a dozen seeds in the packet and one germinated for me. Although this miniature olive tree won’t produce olives, it’s still nice to feel like I have a piece of Italian culture in my space.
I think we hesitate to follow our dreams sometimes because we lack the confidence to see that who we are right now is enough, and we don’t trust that we’ll learn what we don’t know as we go along. Waiting until we think we know everything before following out dream will stop us in our tracks. I have wanted to start a blog for a few decades but I always thought it was something that I would never be able to actually pull off. What would I write about? Who would read it? I was way too shy and self-conscious to even try. I am still a bit surprised at myself that I’ve done this!
I’m just finishing up some wood working projects for my home, with the help of one of my brothers who is a carpenter himself. Once they’re done, I will be turning my mind to some sewing and art projects. I have a list of two or three garments I would like to sew for this winter. I’ve always had a big assortment of wax crayons and pencil crayons in my home, even as a kid. I loved colouring books. As a grown up, I think it’s fun to draw (usually trace) and colour the pictures of the garments I want to sew and see how they will fit in with the other clothes in my closet.
I love hiking. One of my dreams is to go hiking in Patagonia, seeing Tierra del Fuego at the southern tip of South America. I’ve heard from hikers who have already been that it’s a challenging hike and also very windy.
