My sister, Cris, and I have come to a crossroads in our life journeys. We’ve been planning, writing, taking photos, networking, trying to build and expand The Shine and Rise, working to turn into something that you, our audience, will enjoy and that we can be proud of creating and sustaining. Meanwhile, of course, the rest of our lives have continued to unfold; we’ve been busy with jobs, our homes, and taking care of our mother and making decisions and modifications as her health declines. Of course, our children are always top of mind. A critical piece of the puzzle is our mental and physical health because if that is not okay, the rest becomes far too stressful to manage successfully.
Plus, I have finally made the decision to sell my house, where I have lived all my adult life, and move to another part of Ontario. I am excited and eager to go, but after 43 years in this house and raising three children here, I am also anxious, and my mind is clogged and discombobulated about the process, the upcoming change. Cris is also struggling to keep juggling the balls that represent the various aspects of her life. We recognize that because of stress caused by these other aspects of our lives, the fun and satisfaction of creating the site and meeting our self-imposed deadlines is seeping away.
Something has to give. Therefore, we are taking a break, a hiatus, from our posting schedule for some months until I have moved and I get my bearings in my new house and community. The site will return but with a different name and an altered approach. Cris may contribute guest posts when she has time.
Taking a Break
We have enjoyed sharing aspects of our lives with you, but we need to take a break. I will be making lots of big and small decisions in the upcoming months. Cris will be doing what she needs to do to move forward. Meanwhile, we hope you’re all okay, finding a way to shine and rise. See you in the spring!
