Driving my Mother in the City: Traffic and Strategies

I originally wrote this approximately two years ago for mariasmind. I decided to repost it as next week, school begins again and traffic on local roads and highways will inevitably increase. The traffic does lessen a little in the summertime, but it is construction season on our roads, so getting anywhere can still be a lengthy, frustrating commute. Thankfully, I do not go to Toronto as often. When I do, however, what I wrote here still holds true.

The following reflection is about my experience of navigating those roads by myself and with my mother.

My Caregiving Journey: Communication, Compromise and Contradictions

I wrote this reflection a couple of years ago for my previous blog, mariasmind. I have updated it a little and included some photos and images. Our caregiving journey continues. It is never static; as our mother’s physical and mental health slowly changes, so does our response to it. Ideally, we want to be proactive – one step ahead – but that is often easier said than done. However, we persevere. Also, our lives separate from caregiving are an ever-evolving balancing act. Small steps . . .
