Emotional Attachments: Is it Time for a Change?

Hi, everyone. This reflection, about change, my trip to London, England, and my mostly loyal old watch, was originally written and published in mariasmind.com. I have revised and updated it a little. By the way, as of today, the watch is still working!

   Our reaction to changes, big or small, wanted or unwanted, anticipated or unexpected, is mostly determined by our personalities and our previous experiences with change. I realize that regardless of how welcome or at least manageable the change is, it is still often exhausting. As a result,  I am always comforted, calmed by connections to what is familiar. Well-known, reassuring rituals, relationships and objects that have been with me for a long time help to keep my mind and life in reasonable balance.

Happy Birthday, Maybe? – to Shakespeare, my Imaginary Friend!

The reason for the ‘maybe’ is that it is not definitely known if April 23 is the day Shakespeare was born. However, it is known that he died on this day. Furthermore, it is the feast day of St. George, the patron saint of England. All fits together nicely, if it is true that Shakespeare was born on this day . . . Meanwhile, I wrote this post for mariasmind.com and I am resurrecting it for the day on which Shakespeare’s birthday is celebrated. Hope it makes you smile.

One of the highlights of my visit to London, England in 2022 was exploring Westminster Abbey. Specifically, I was enchanted by Poets’ Corner, where there is a memorial to Shakespeare, who is buried in his hometown, Stratford-upon-Avon. I recorded this while I was in the Abbey.
